2006 Blue Ribbon Dinner

Blue Ribbon Dinner 2006

The 6th Annual Blue Ribbon Dinner was held on Friday 22nd September 2006 at Acer Arena, Olympic Park (formerly the Sydney SuperDome) and was a huge success. 350 guests attended the formal event that was held to help raise funds to send Legatees to Canberra for the official opening of the National Police Memorial. Our Vice Patrons, NSW Commissioner of Police, Ken Moroney AO APM and NSW Minister of Police, Carl Scully MP were in attendance as well as the Premier, Morris Iemma MP and the Opposition Leader Peter Debnam MP. Bronwyn Bishop MP addressed the attendees on behalf of Prime Minister, John Howard. Our Master of Ceremony for the evening was Warren Brown, cartoonist from the Daily Telegraph, who managed to keep the large crowd entertained.

The NSW Police Pipe Band and Stage Band entertained the crowd with their wonderful Blues Brothers Show along with all the old favourites. 18 year old Legatee, Kate McGown was definitely a highlight with her amazing rendition of “O Mio Babbino Caro” and “It Might As Well Be Spring”.

We were also fortunate to have Sarah Marsh address those in attendance. Sarah showed amazing strength when she spoke of her late husband Nathan Marsh. The crowd listened intently as she spoke of the loss of her husband and the relationship between Nathan, Herself and their beautiful baby daughter, Tara.
