2007 Blue Ribbon Raffle Drawn

Launched at the 7th Annual Blue Ribbon Dinner in September 2007, the 2007 Blue Ribbon Raffle saw the NSW Police Legacy office buried under hundreds of sold ticket books! A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket in aid of Police Legacy’s Legatees and their dependents. Not only did the raffle raise funds for Police Legacy, but there was the chance to win some fantastic prizes, all of which were all kindly donated by our supporters.

The prize list included:

First Prize – A Mediterranean Cruise for Two valued at $8100 for 7 nights visiting Italy, Greece and Croatia, donated by the Police Credit Union;

Second prize – A Toshiba 32 Inch Flat Screen Wide TV, donated by Grant and Eddy Biscoe;

Third prize – A Sydney Bridge Climb for Two, valued at $338, donated by BridgeClimb Australia.

The Raffle was drawn at 10.00am on Wednesday 13 February, 2008 at the Legacy Office. And, our congratulations to the lucky winners go to:

First Prize – Mrs. O. Bendt Ticket Number 03671

Second prize – Mr. G. Moore Ticket Number 25134

Third prize – Mrs. D. Whiteside Ticket Number 25028

Winners’ names also appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday 16 February, 2008.

After contacting our prize winners all three expressed their surprise and delight at the prizes. Our first prize winner, Mrs. Bendt, a Legatee herself, was speechless after hearing she had won first prize! Later, she told us how she had purchased her ticket to show her support for Police Legacy’s work in remembering the families of deceased Police Officers. During the presentation of first prize, Trevor Kerrison, from the Police Credit Union, spoke of how proud the Police Credit Union was to be an active member of the wider Police family.

Not only is the Blue Ribbon Raffle one of Police Legacy’s major fundraising activities, it is also an important way of reminding the public of Legacy’s aim “We remember them”- to remember deceased Police Officers and their remaining family members.

The funds raised from the Raffle are used by Police Legacy to provide educational assistance through annual Education Grants and scholarships to our Legatees and their dependents. In 2007, Police Legacy provided $176,453.00 in Education Grants, which we could not have offered without the support we receive from the Blue Ribbon Raffle.

Police Legacy would like to thank everyone involved in the 2007 Blue Ribbon Raffle- our Legatees and Legators, NSW Police Officers and the friends of Police Legacy, who not only sold raffle tickets but purchased them. A big thank you also to our prize donators the Police Credit Union; Grant and Eddy Biscoe and BridgeClimb Australia.
