National Police Legacy Day

17 June 2025

We’re thrilled to have you with us for the start of a new tradition: 17 June 2025 will be the first National Police Legacy Day. Police Legacies have been supporting Police Families across Australia for 54 years, and now we are coming together nationally to honour this legacy of care. On 17 June this year - and all years going forward - we will honour all police who serve our community, and the families who uphold their memory with strength and pride.

Burns Scholarship Winners 2021

Late last year the Burns family had the difficult task of deciding on just three winners of the Sean Burns Scholarship, the award set up in memory of Sean Anthony Burns, a former NSW Police Officer who passed away in 2012.

Chair's Report March 2022

Despite the obstacles that the pandemic keeps throwing at us we continue to get out and about in a Covid-safe way to connect with our Police Legatees. Just prior to Christmas I was able to get to several Social Connection Lunches up on the North Coast. We also held our Parents’ Network Christmas luncheon with a lovely harbour cruise.

In January our Chair was presented with a cheque for $40,604 from Tony King, President of Police Association of NSW, representing NSW Police Legacy’s share of proceeds from last year’s Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance.

In preparation for writing my December report I read over what I had to say this time last year, and it started to look like the year had repeated itself. We are going through crazy times, but at least now we can see the end in sight with the help of vaccinations and a lot of hard work by our police and health professionals in keeping our communities safe.
