October 2019
On a chilly night in September the first ever “Beat the Blue” event was held at Sydney Motorsport Park. And what a night it was! More than 6,000 people came out to see the show, and we don’t think many people left disappointed.
The evening kicked off with the “Show and Shine” presentation, with a spectacular array of cars on display, but the main attraction of course was Traffic & Highway Patrol competing against members of the community on a controlled course. Call us biased, but we’re secretly pleased that HWP took out 77 of the 98 races. After the drive-off, the officers had some safety and handling tips to pass on to the other drivers, followed by the community knock-out event.
The event was a huge success, and we hope to see it become a regular fixture on our community calendar. Our most heartfelt thanks have to go to the person behind it all, the incredibly dedicated and very humble SC Steven Planinic, without whom none of this would have happened. He and his team raised an incredible $30,000 for Police Legacy. Now that deserves a victory lap!
