Scholarships Update Sept 2021

September 2021

William Crews Scholarship: closes 30 September

Are you a Police Legatee with a son, daughter, or grandchild who has recently graduated from the Constable Education Program? NSW Police Legacy has a Scholarship for graduates of the Associate Diploma of Policing Practice, in memory of Detective Constable William (Bill) Crews VA.

Detective Constable William ’Bill’ Crews, VA died in the line of duty on 9 September 2010. Bill joined the NSW Police Force in 2007 and was just 26 years old when he died. Bill followed in the steps of his father and older brother when he joined the Police Force and was a proud young officer from a proud policing family. Following his death, the community of NSW showed tremendous support for the NSW Police Force and made significant donations to support the Crews family.

To honour Bill’s legacy and acknowledge the community’s generosity, Kel and Sharon Crews, Bill’s parents, placed the funds in trust with NSW Police Legacy and offer a memorial scholarship in Bill’s name to acknowledge those families who carry on the tradition of policing from one generation to the next. The scholarship is awarded annually to a child or descendant of a retired or serving  NSW police officer and is valued at $6,000.

To be eligible, you must be:
